Custom Sliding Doors — Closets, Walk-ins and Room Dividers
Doors decide how a storage system feels day to day, and they are the part most often forced into a standard size. HITO.SPACE builds them to the opening instead. We make four types — doors on floor tracks, doors on recessed tracks, top-hung doors with no floor track at all, and pivot doors — for wardrobes, walk-ins, entrance halls and room dividers, in standard and non-standard openings alike. Each type solves a different problem, and which one suits your room depends on the floor, the ceiling, the width of the opening and how much you mind a track underfoot.
Our Design Process
Measurements and Free Estimate
Tell us the dimensions of your opening and share a rough idea of what you want — a photo or a quick sketch helps a great deal. We send a free estimate of the project, and if the price suits you we arrange a meeting for exact measurement and final details. Starting with a number rather than a sales visit keeps the process honest for both sides.
Choosing the Door Type
Floor-track doors are the straightforward solution for wardrobes, walk-ins and room dividers. Recessed tracks sit flush into the floor for a refined result with no visible rail. Top-hung doors carry their weight from above and leave the floor completely clear, which matters where a track would collect dust or interrupt a continuous floor. Pivot doors suit small closets and narrow cabinets, and can be fitted into a room opening or inside the wardrobe itself.
3D Design
You receive a 3D visualisation of the project so you can see the frame proportions, the panel divisions and the finish in place before anything is built. Frame shapes and colours are selected at this stage. Samples of frames, hardware and materials are presented at the meeting with our representative rather than described over the phone.
Manufacturing and Installation
Panels and frames are made to your opening in our workshop near Beauharnois and installed by our own team. Openings are rarely square, so doors are adjusted on site until they run smoothly and sit evenly along their full travel. Alignment, soft-close behaviour where fitted, and clearances are all set before we finish.
Materials & Specifications
Floor-Track Doors
Sliding doors running on a track fixed to the floor. The standard solution for wardrobes, walk-ins and dividing a room, suitable for wide openings and heavier panels. The track is the most forgiving of uneven floors and the simplest to service later.
Recessed-Track Doors
The track is set into the floor so nothing stands proud of the surface. Used for wardrobes, entrance halls and room dividers where a visible rail would spoil the line. A refined and understated result that requires the floor build-up to be planned for it.
Top-Hung Doors
Doors suspended from an upper track with no floor rail at all. The right answer wherever you do not want anything crossing the floor — continuous flooring, cleaning, or simply the look. Weight is carried by the ceiling or by a structural header, which we confirm during measurement.
Pivot Doors
Hinged on a pivot rather than sliding, these suit small closets and narrow cabinets. They can be installed in an opening in your bedroom or inside the wardrobe itself, and they give complete access to the interior when open.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which door type should I choose?
It depends on the floor and the opening. Floor tracks are the most straightforward and handle wide, heavy doors well. Recessed tracks give the cleanest look but need to be planned with the flooring. Top-hung doors leave the floor entirely free, which is the usual choice over continuous hardwood or where a track would collect dust. Pivot doors are for narrow openings and small closets. We recommend a type once we have seen the room.
Can you fit doors to a non-standard opening?
Yes — that is the point of making them to measure. Standard and non-standard openings are both handled, including openings that are out of square, have sloped ceilings, or sit under a bulkhead. Exact measurements are taken by our representative before manufacturing.
Can sliding doors divide a room?
Yes. Room division is one of the main uses for our floor-track, recessed-track and top-hung systems, alongside wardrobes and entrance halls. Panel width, weight and the number of leaves are worked out at the design stage according to the span.
Can I see the frames and finishes before ordering?
Yes. Samples of frames, hardware and materials are brought to the meeting with our representative, so you evaluate the finishes in your own light and next to your own floor rather than from a photograph.
